My art journey

Asante sana means thank you. Gratitude is what I feel when talking about art.

Bio: Stefanía worked as a content creator for two years at MAMM (Museo de Arte Moderno de Medellín). She lived five years in East Africa where she started her career as a self-taught artist, always focusing her research on learning from cultural diversity; commonalities and points of inflection. She currently works with collage and written narratives. Her interest lies in producing collages and stories that document the of people who identify as women and how this intimacy contributes to preserving traditions and historical memory. Her first exhibition, Papel Blanco, took place in March 2023 at Xenson Art Space (Kampala, Uganda). She has collaborated with Borderlands Art and More of Us (Uganda).
She is interested in exploring recyclable paper and is learning about vegetable paper fibres.

Artist book: Nkwagala Uganda / Te amo Uganda Proposal for an exchange of words about care and community, between the most spoken languages in the two cities where I have lived the longest: Spanish in Medellín and Luganda in Kampala. Only 4 editions as it is a 100% handmade piece with recycled and handmade papers. I wrote last year about my experience as a member of 32°
Collaboration with the Ugandan artist Ssebo Lule. Year 2024 Kampala, Uganda

Volunteer at Platohedro a non-profit organization and collaborative creative platform based in Medellín, Colombia. Currently, I am studying texts from its documentation center, engaging with a collection of works on art and thought that inspire reflections on well-being and self-governance within the artistic process. In November, we will launch a pilot project to establish a reading and study club to reflect on the artistic journeys of all participants. Year 2024 Medellín, Colombia

Stefanía and Adela’s project, La casa, la plaza y el río (The House, the Square, and the River), explored the voices of women from Mompox. It was developed with women from the region, focusing especially on those who are storytellers or are recognized in their communities for the oral richness of their context. Stefanía and Adela held creation meetings (memory laboratories), conducted plastic experimentation through the creation of a story oracle, and carried out a socialization exercise with the community at the end of the experience. Papel Blanco part of Look one group exhibition, Xenson Art Space. This exhibition brought together new artists every year. This time, I was able to assemble my poems and collages in a series that explored femininity and the possibilities of building a room of one’s own in a new country to which one had decided to migrate. Year 2023 Kampala, Uganda

I developed the entire digital strategy of the museum in which I worked: Modern Art Museum of Medellín, MAMMA (Social media: TW, IG, FB. Newsletter, Museum Blog, videos, audio, photos) one of the most important works was the Non-object Art Colloquium. Year 2017 Medellín, Colombia
